Asian markets traded mixed after US stocks fell on Friday amid concerns on Wall Street about tax reform.

US stocks fell on Friday, although American media companies' shares were up amid rumours around bids for parts of 21st Century Fox. The retreat came after gains on Thursday, when the US House of Representatives approved a closely watched tax overhaul that will reduce the corporate tax rate.

UK stocks finished flat on Friday as utility stocks remained under pressure following a negative broker note on United Utilities, while shares in Sky were boosted by reports that Comcast and Verizon Communications are interested in buying parts of 21st Century Fox.

  • Philip Hammond says next week's Budget will set out how the government will build 300,000 new homes a year. But the chancellor said there was no "single magic bullet" to increase housing supply and the government would not simply pour money in. Ministers want to speed up developments where planning permission has been granted and give more help to small building firms.
  • Tesla has unveiled its first electric articulated lorry, designed to challenge diesel trucks as king of the road. The long-anticipated Tesla Semi has a range of 500 miles on a single charge. Tesla says the vehicle known in the US as a semi-trailer truck will go into production in 2019.
